نبذة عن كتاب The Us War on Iraq: Regional Strategic Implications
Any analysis of events surrounding the 2003 war on Iraq will have to consider Iraq’s volatile history-including the disastrous legacy of Saddam Hussein and previous regimes-and the way that the United States will pursue its overall strategic objectives vis-a-vis Iraq. Of relevance also is the interaction of other states in the region with the current and future Iraq, the regional balance of power presuming a dominant presence of the United States, and the direction of future Iraqi foreign policy.
Accordingly, this paper will look at four principal issues against the background of recent Iraqi history and regional dynamics:- The ambit and constraints of President Bush’s strategic doctrine of ”pre-emption,” – US objectives within the context of threats and opportunities in Iraq;- Regional ramifications of the recent Iraq war;- A future perspective on Iraq’s relations with the region.
