نبذة عن كتاب Sailing Without an Anchor? Contempaoray Determinants of US Policy in the Gulf
It has become almost an axiom to introduce any analysis of United States foreign policy by emphasizing the seismic changes in the international system since 1989. For most of the Cold War, the need to contain the ideological and strategic threat presented by the Soviet Union allowed both Realist traditions in US foreign policy to unite around a common cause. It should be noted, however, the specific events, such as the Vietnam War and the policies of the Reagan administration in Latin America, exposed a clear bifurcation between those in Washington who proposed a foreign policy built upon the exclusive pursuit of the national interest, and those who believed that promoting democracy should be the compass by which US foreign policy should direct itself.
